Happy Sunday! It is the 2nd Sunday in Lent, and this week I thought I would talk about what I am doing to be more sacrificial and better for Jesus. This is my first Lent since I feel like I have truly become a devout Catholic Christian, and I was/am very excited for Lent so I can become better in the eyes of God. So I am pumped to tell you guys what I am doing for Lent.
For the record, Lent is not a season where you are showing others what you are doing for God, but rather you are just being sacrificial for God to respect Him. I am aware of this, but I am writing this post to hopefully inspire some people to give up something for Lent. I know it has already started, but better late than never.
So the thing that I gave up this Lent is really basic of me, but I normally have cookies after lunch, so I gave up treats after lunch. This hasn't been too difficult, so in addition I try to limit the junk I have after dinner as well. This has been something that I have to think about, and then I think about why I am doing it when it comes to be lunch time, and I have no regrets whatsoever.
Lent is not just about giving up things, but also about just becoming better in the eyes of God. Therefore, I decided that I would be reading 10 chapters of the Bible everyday so I can understand the word of God better. I love this because this helps me understand all of the miracles that He accomplished, and I always feel much more appreciative after reading it. I am almost done with the New Testament, and am a little more than halfway done with the Old Testament, so I cannot wait to finish reading them and then start diving more deeply into the books.
I completely recommend giving up something for Lent, even if it is something small. Also I recommend learning more about Jesus and his Passion as well. If you ever want to talk about religion, or anything just leave me a comment with your email!
Love,
Elizabeth
