So I think it is fair for me to say that I have a lot of activities that I like to do in my free time, and things that I have to do in order to survive in school! Here is just a slight explanation to prove to you that I am very highly qualified to write this post! So I am currently taking a science class that is two years above my grade level and a year long class, but I am taking it in one semester, I am also taking a college class while I am in high school, I play on a varsity sport team that requires me to not arrive home from school until 9:00 pm 3-4 nights a week, I am on student council, I am currently in a musical, and two plays, I write this blog (1 post a week), and I cannot do anything on the weekends! Therefore I think it is fair to say that I am qualified to write this time management post! So here is a list of things I would do if you are in my situation, and have a lot of things that you want to do, but it feels impossible to do all of them!
#1 Prioritize
Make a list of all of the activities that you want to do, and why you want to do them! Is it because you think it will help you get into college? Is it because you love this activity, and are truly passionate about it? Or do you want to do it because your friends do it? Then write all of these activities in order of how important they are to you! Make sure you keep the things you truly love to do near the top, of course with a few things that will help you in the future as well!
#2 See how much time each activity takes!
Talk to some people who are involved in these activities already, and see what the time requirements are! For example: my sport requires me to now arrive home from school until 9 pm on Mon,Wed, Thurs and sometimes Friday, but it is only for a few weeks, and then the rehearsals from the musicals start!
#3 If there are slight overlapping then talk to the directors of the programs!
One thing that happened to me this year is that there was a week of overlapping musical rehearsals, and sporting practices, but I talked to my coach and the director, and I ended up skipping my Tuesday workout for my sport, and went to the rehearsal, and then the other days I went to my sport practice till 9 and just got filled in about rehearsals later! You might have to suffer some consequences though, because I did have to sit out of a few of the sporting meets!
#4 Make out a schedule
This will allow you to see when you will have your time to do homework, eat dinner, and if you are lucky RELAX! During my sporting season I don't have a lot of time for relaxing, but that all comes with signing up for so much stuff! In my opinion since I really love my sport, it is completely worth it to not have any time to myself during the week!
So that is my guide on how to manage your time, and activities to do the things you love! I hope this helped! Make sure you comment down below what activities you love to do!
