A Broadway Nerd's Review Of The 2016 Tony Awards

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/69th_Tony_Awards

The 70th annual Tony awards were Sunday June 12th 2016! If you don't know what the Tony awards are , they are basically the Academy awards for Broadway and they are held by the American Theatre Wing. They celebrate everything from lighting, to acting within the shows, and it is a joyous time for the Broadway community! If any of you don't already know, I am a huge Broadway nerd! Ever since 8th grade theatre has been my favorite thing ever, and the night of the Tony Awards is one of my favorite nights of the year. I always get so excited for the Tony Awards, but I will be 100% honest with all of my opinions so here they are!

The Host:
http://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwtv/article/Breaking-News-James-Corden-to-Host-the-2016-Tony-Awards-20160202

So a popular late night show host named James Corden hosted the Tonys. He has had Broadway experience before, and he played the baker in Into The Woods. If I am being 100% honest I didn't know how he was going to be as a host. I thought he wouldn't be too good. However, the whole entire show was the best Tony awards I have ever seen in my life. It was beautiful. His opening act was the best thing I have ever seen in my life, I loved it so much, it was creative, and the Alexander Hamilton parody actually made me cry so much that tears were streaming down my face. I hope with all of my heart that he hosts again! I wish he could host every year. I loved him as a host way too much! It was just amazing, and watch the opening number to the show below!

I also loved his carpool karaoke, which is a popular segment he does on his talk show, but he did it with a bunch of tony nominees , and they sang One Day More from Les Miserables, and the whole time all I could think was, I want this to be me and my future friends in the car! So here it is below!

The Performances:
They.were.amazing.Oh.my.dear.gosh. They were all so beautiful! I loved every show nominated this year with all of my heart, but to keep this post short I will just talk about the five that were my favorite in order.
            Hamilton
So like any Broadway nerd, I love Hamilton. A.Lot. I won't go into detail about the show because I have already done a separate post about Hamilton and my love for it here. If you don't know, Lin Manuel Miranda, who stars in it(the show) as Alexander Hamilton himself, and wrote the original score decided that they would not use guns in their performance of Yorktown at the show in honor of the tragedy that happened in Orlando on Sunday morning, which alone I thought was beautiful. I think the performance was magnificent, and everyone involved in it was amazing.
           The Color Purple
Beautiful. Cynthia Erivo, who won best actress in a musical last night swept the show along with everyone else in the cast. Her voice is absolutely breathtaking, and so was everything else in her performance. She is a very deserving winner of the award she was given.
          Waitress
I love Jesse Mueller so much and her performance was beautiful. I love the emotion she put into it, and also I loved how Sara Barielles ,who wrote the score, performed with her as well! It just made me so happy! I want to see this show so much and so bad.
          Spring Awakening
I have always loved the songs from Spring Awakening, escpecially the two songs they performed, and it was a nice surprise because I didn't know that Andy Mientus, who I am a huge fan of, was in it so that made me very happy! I love how it is a sort of rock song on Broadway thing! I highly recommend listenning to the album if you haven't before!
          School Of Rock
I love the movie school of rock, and the musical is no disappointment. First of all the guy who plays the same character that Jack Black did looks exactly like Jack Black which to be honest is kind of scary! I loved it (their performance) so much!

The Winners, and The Speeches:
I am/was so happy with the winners! Everyone who won deserved to win so much, and here are a few of my favorite winners!

Lin-Manuel Miranda
Obviously! He is amazing, and let me just tell you his speech for best original score is my favorite thing ever! It was absolutely beautiful, he is amazing and I love him so much! Here is his speech below!

       Leslie Odom Jr.
I wanted nothing more than to have Leslie win best actor and he did! He is an amazing actor and he deserved it for playing Aaron Burr so much! His performance in the whole show is amazing, but especially The World Is Wide Enough. I also love his performance the Room Where It Happens.
      Renee Elise Golds-berry
She sings one of my favorite songs in the show, which is Satisfied, and her voice is just absolutely beautiful, not to mention that her speech was just so heartfelt, I loved it!
       Cynthia Erivo
She won best actress and it was well deserved, when she sang, and performed in The Color Purple's performance my jaw actually dropped, it was just breathtaking.
       Daveed Diggs
He plays two characters in Hamilton that are both amazing, and he deserved this so much. He is so talented, and he sings/raps one of my favorite lines in the show in Aaron Burr Sir (oui oui mon a mi j'amappel laffayette) sorry I probably spelled that very wrong!

Dual Action Moisturizer (Which is better? On Brand Or OffBrand? #2)(Blogmas 2016 #4)

A post that I am very proud of, and that many of you wonderful readers really seemed to enjoy, was my Which Is Better? On Brand, or Off Brand Beauty Blender Edition . I decided to make it a little series because I realize that I love a good dupe, and I want you to join in my journey to great dupes! So welcome to another On-Brand or Off-Brand post!        I think every person can agree that moisturizer is something that is a necessity in a skincare routine, especially in this upcoming winter season! I know in the winter I get very dry skin, and I know that moisturizer can get quite expensive, so I thought I would try out a store brand moisturizer, and compare it to a Clean and Clear moisturizer that I already knew I loved.      These are the two moisturizers that I will be comparing in this post! The clean and clear advantage dual action moisturizer (I know this one is slightly different but I have used both!), and the Walmart...

Life Is Happening RIGHT NOW

One thing that I have really discovered about myself within the past year is that I am way too focused on the future. I often find myself planning my future down to the last detail, and daydreaming.               But let me tell you something. This does not get you anywhere. I realized that I was legitimately spending my life just thinking about a life I dreamed of and planning my future in my mind. However, I soon came to realize that life is happening right now. I am living a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing life now, and if I keep daydreaming excessively I will be living more in my fantasy than in my reality. Though this may sound great, reality is truly wonderful.                I soon began to realize, 'oh dang, I must stop daydreaming'. So that is what I did. I prayed, and I worked hard to stop my daydreaming tendencies. Now I have severely cut down the amount of t...

How I Have Deepened My Faith

A few months ago God truly found me. I knew I wanted to start a relationship with God and with Jesus, but I did not how to begin this faithful journey in my life. However, here I am a few months later and I feel more spiritual than ever. I know I still have a lot to learn, but you always do when it comes to Christ. Here are my tips for starting a relationship with Christ. 1. Pray This is so simple ,but so true. I pray so much. I pray every morning when I wake up to thank God for a safe night. I pray when I am aware I have sinned. I pray before I, or my family eats. I pray before I go to bed. I pray a lot in between. Praying does not have to be a set prayer, you can legitimately just talk to God. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but you get the hang of it as you practice. Remember God knows that you are new to this, and he knows that you are trying and he will help you to learn to pray better. Remember, do not just pray for things, pr...
