I saw a really hard-hitting sign when driving down the street today. There was a banner at my local Church that said: 'Keep The Christ in CHRISTmas". This sign hit me really hard. I realized right then and there, that many people do not see Christmas at Christ coming to Earth anymore, but rather they see it as a day where you get presents, and spend time with family. Now do not get me wrong, I love the fact that people spend Christmas with their family, and I think that is an amazing part of Christmas, but we need to remember that Christmas isn't just some random day of the year designated for gift-giving, but it is rather a celebration of Jesus' entry to the flesh.
Christmas has truly become something that isn't as meaningful as it should be. We should all be joyous, merry, and peaceful during Christmastime. Not stressed out buying gifts, and working on Blogmas posts! This Christmas I urge you to look past the gifts, and the decorations for joy, and look to the Lord. Christmas should be seen as a Holy day, and time of the year. It should be taught to children that Christmas is a celebration of our Savior's entry in to the flesh, and instead of focusing on the gifts on Christmas day, that we should have Jesus in our thoughts through most of the day.
I am not trying to tell you that you shouldn't be excited over Christmas gifts, because it is perfectly fine to be excited over them. I am just asking that you take the time to be thankful, and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Instead of stressing over Christmas gifts, prepare yourself with praying and reading the Holy Bible, for the coming of Christ. When you are in the midst of opening presents, remember that Jesus died for you, and was born on this day. Most of all, spread God, and God's kindness through your thoughts and actions during Christmas, and the time leading up to Christmas, as well as all year, but especially Christmastime.
Please, spread this message, whether through your words, or by posting the link. And please go to mass, at least on Christmas/Christmas Eve, and pray every night to your Lord. Jesus dies to give us all eternal life, and redemption for our sins, so repay him a little bit by making time for him in your heart!
