So I feel like this is a question many non-Christians/new Christians might not understand! In the Bible it talks about how when you have faith in Jesus, and have him enter into your heart, that your sins are covered by his Passion (when he died on the cross and resurrected ). Yes, this is true, but this does not mean that you can just go and sin and not care that you sinned.
This is for many reasons. The Bible talks about how you should try your hardest to be like Jesus, this is talked about a lot, especially when Jesus says "If anyone is to be my disciple, have him take up his cross and follow me". Jesus came to this earth to show us how we should strive to be. The sins that he covered up by his death and resurrection are the sins that we ourselves are not aware that we have/are committing. The Bible talks a lot about how it is reaaaally sinful if someone is aware something is a sin, yet sins anyway because the whole point of a sin is that it is something bad, that makes us less in God's eyes, and something that we should not do. God wants us to be as sinless as we can be, and we can never be truly sin-free, but we can all strive to be better people is Jesus Christ.
Jesus wants us to be like him, and he truly cares for us. Jesus does cover up our sins when we are faithful in him, but we still want to represent him as best as we can. If we believe in Jesus and sin A LOT, then people will think we are hypocrites, and this is completely misrepresenting Christ and all that he stands for! Jesus Christ died for our sins, and we should want to be as much like him as we can, and show him and God thanks for all they have done for us in our lives. Our salvation should be something that occurs, and makes us better people, and we can do this by following Christ. We should not be cocky, or think that we are better than others, we should love all people, evangelize, not commit sexual acts outside of marriage, and speak out against the things that God and Jesus say are abominable. You cannot be a Christian who just picks and chooses things in the Bible to believe, it must be ALL of God's word. If you want to talk to me for some Christian/Catholic fellowship please leave me a comment with your email and I will be happy to talk to you!
Happy Sunday! God bless you all!
Love,
Elizabth
